Driving with Sensors

A robot uses sensors to notice what is around it. That way it finds its way safely.

Sensors are like eyes for the robot. With them it sees what is in the way. Then it decides where to drive.

How a Robot Drives with Sensors

   Different Sensors

   A robot has different sensors. Some measure distance. Others are cameras or feel a touch. All of them collect facts about the surroundings.

   Spotting Obstacles

   Sensors show the robot walls and things in its way. That way it never bumps into them.

   Deciding

   The robot looks at its readings. Then it decides: drive forward, turn or stop.

   In Real Life

   This is inside vacuum robots and self-driving cars. Robots in factories need it too. They work next to people and must not hurt anyone.
